bear with me this is not crt related but is old(ish) display related.

I just picked up an old samsung syncmaster 2560x1600 display for pocket change because it has a big gouge in the film.

what will happen if I remove it? should I just peel it off and clean it or try and replace the film? can you replace the film?

got the service manual, wrote down all the settings in the deflection menu and futzed with it for about 5 min. the picture isn't washed out in person, my camera is shit. I think I can get it pretty good with some more time.
