>King's Field 4
is the only prince vs prince game of the series. Also the European release translated the Dark Magician (one of the somewhat story-relevant bosses in the game) as Black Magic Man, among other instances of errors or dodgy decisions. Meanwhile, the US release is probably more accurate but the translators who were big KF fans were allowed to go hog with giving things their own names (or so I read). That's really no biggie, because older KF titles already had that in spades.
>King's Field 3
KF3's English release differs from the Japanese in that the ending cutscene is actually voiced whereas it's just a silent text scroll in the original. Also might have made the good ending a bit better for the hero, but I might be wrong.
>Eternal Ring
is even crazier, the JP version is kind of voiced, but it's just the narrator in the intro and ending. Meanwhile, the English version fully voices all cutscenes and dialogues in the game.
>Shadow Tower
Big spoilers for Shadow Tower Abyss: it's kind of a sequel to the first game but also maybe not necessarily and Rurufon (the demon girl of the series who is way more relevant in the sequel) is fucking perfect. It's not a joke, it's a big lore thing that explains some other things.
>Evergrace
Now, for the fucking masterpiece, which is finally fully voiced in all versions: the villain is called Morpheus in the translation but is fucking Bag(u)ragera in the original. And Sharlin is Sharuami/Shalami. Weird.

King's Field IV Ancient City is fucking top tier and I won't believe otherwise.
Shame it doesn't have a monster/enemy bestiary like the Shadow Tower games and Evergrace do. Even older King's Field ones have something like that, but it's magic items there. The best it has is a manual. Though maybe it works for its atmosphere.

>KF4 is entirely silly
As someone who's yet to get far in any Shadow Tower or older KF tittles but completed KF4, with a pretty shifty PAL English translation at that, I take offence to that. Playing as a slow-moving tractor masquerading as a prince who bravely takes on the forces of corrupting evil was beyond cool. 10/10 experience.

In the Japanese ver. of Evergrace Sharline is called Sharuami and Morpheus is Baguragera. Renaming stuff in localization is an old story but those names are just great.
According to a comment below one of the in-game OST youtube videos in Evergrace it's possible to quickly perform a second normal attack if you hit the attack button right when the first hit connects.

The Japanese ver. of Eternal Ring lacks voice acting except for bits like the narrator in the opening while the English versions feature full voice acting for dialogues.

The PAL ver. of King's Field IV and its English translation is unmistakably different from the US one and feels bad in places. Like calling Dark Magician Black Magic Man.

Is Eternal Ring really that bad? I thought it was okay from a bit that I played. Fun fact: the game has fully voiced dialogs in the Western release, while the original Japanese version is mute except for small narrator bits like in the opening.

>Shadow tower
I really want to play it but it's scary how the starting weapons force the player to practically step on those spiders and hug the ceiling bats to hit them. In KF4 the only weapon with such short reach that I remember is the earth dagger which I didn't have to use due to abundance of other options. I think even the prince's punches have longer reach.

I love these first person console RPGs FromSoftware was making before switching to Souls and their ilk. The King's Field series, the Shadow Tower series, Eternal Ring. There's something very satisfying about exploring a world as this slowly-walking dude with your end goal being simple and yet so distant, as you have to traverse these vast yet so compact-feeling dungeons and worlds filled to the brim with scores of different enemies and traps, tapping walls like a loon when trying to find secrets and collecting various items, magic and tons of equipment and also finding various helpful (or not so much) NPCs. Wish my descriptions could do them justice but they are definitely way more niche than Souls.
