I'm surprised this game never became popular. It's a real interesting hybrid of a game. It starts off as a survival horror game, running away from demons chasing you and puzzles, and after Akira merges with Amon and becomes Devilman, the game turns into a gritty beat em up. It's shocking that this game was never released in the West, or even remastered for an anniversary or something.

Devilman on the PS1 is really interesting. It starts off like a survival horror game, running away from demons chasing you and solving puzzles, kind of like Resident Evil or Silent Hill, but after Akira gets possessed by Amon, the game turns into a gritty beat-em-up and you fight and kill demons. I always thought it was really cool that the game switches genres and play styles like that, and I don't think I've ever really seen that many games do that.
