It's just a big blah of nothingness, the world has nothing going for it. like in castlevania you have a consistent world built around gothic horror, in metroid you have a consistent world built around alien science fiction, in megaman you have a consistent world built around cartoon robots, even kirby in all its lighthearted sillyness at least sells somewhat of an idea of a dream wonderland... mario is just a clusterfuck of lolrandom whatever where anything goes.
