Well yes to some extent, but one invaluable thing I gained from all the time I sunk into figuring this shit out the hard way that I can't teach you is that I'm actually very good at making myself happy. I think that making our happiness someone else's responsibility is fundamentally irrational though. Furthermore, it's dangerously irrational to delude oneself into believing that there's some soul mate out there for us who will complete us and just know how to make us happy forever. That kind of thinking leads to either loneliness due to impossible standards or to profound soul-shattering disappointment when we discover we have allowed ourselves to erroneously believe we found it. I think that women naturally have an easier time accepting when that magic fades than men do and again this falls directly in line with evolutionary psychology.

In sorry that your experiences currently have you too cynical to even see light at the end of the tunnel. Everyone's life experiences "brainwash" them into one story of thinking or another. I carefully selected a girl who not only had yet to have her brain dirtied to begin with by the nasty secret realities of so - called "modern relationships" but also was raised in a traditional family to begin with so never was under much more than the media's impression that it might be a good thing to do. So I guess you could say that her brain's been washed in the blood of the lamb from the beginning. She's certainly gained perspective on how real people's relationships go since then and she rightly considers herself very lucky.
