Are there people here that still think 6th gen is not retro?
What is your reasoning?

You will never be a real retro. You have no cartridge, you have no flashcarts, you have no sram. You are a cmos battery abomination of modern engineering and manufactured into a crude mockery of your previous gen.

All the “validation” you get is from zoomers who played you as kid. Behind your back people mock you. Your last gen consoles are disgusted and ashamed of you, your “handheld” counterparts laugh at your outdated appearance behind closed trays.

Retro gamers are utterly repulsed by you. Decades of evolution have allowed gamers to filter out bad retro consoles with no soul. Even consoles with HDD mods look uncanny and unnatural to a retro gamer. Your PCB structure is a dead giveaway. And even if you manage to get a drunk gamer to play with you, he’ll turn tail and bolt the second he gets a disk error.

You will never be retro. You wrench out a screeching drive noises every single morning and tell yourself I'm gonna be okay, but deep inside you feel the laser failure creeping up like a disk rot, ready to crush you under the unbearable weight.

Eventually it’ll be too much to load - you’ll buy a hammer, smash your lid, pull out your laser, and plunge into the cold abyss. Your last gen consoles will find you, sram broken but relieved that they no longer have to keep the flash memory of the unbearable shame and disappointment. They’ll bury you with a headstone marked with your medium based name, and every passerby for the rest of eternity will know a disk based console is buried there. Your disks will rot and go back to the dust, and all that will remain of your legacy is dead CD-ROM that is unmistakably laser.

This is your fate. This is what you chose. There is no legacy.

Why don't we have any clone consoles Gen 5 and above? There's tons of quality NES, Genesis and SNES clones so why not a high quality Sega CD, PS1, Amiga CD or N64?

It depends on the ratio, but you're not realistically buying the entire collection unless it's the virtual boy.

You know, people go back and release games from consoles from previous generations. Cave Story was ported to the Genesis, for example, and there's a good number of Dreamcast homebrews to this day.

So why can't we do it the other way around?
If we can create new Fifth Generation games, for example, then why can't we create a new Fifth Generation console, too? Somebody should create a new console for one of the previous Generations in order to continue the Retro era. It could play Retro games as well as new games specifically created for it. Somebody should take advantage of this.

fifth gen consoles should've been released a few years later, until they were at least arcade quality, without compromises. Most of the games from that gen look hideous now. 4th gen consoles would've benefited from more maturity as well.
