Only the screen as far as I know. It's the OSSC losing sync that causes the black image.
I'm just wondering if this semi consistent sync switching in Chrono Trigger is a normal thing.

I see. My TV handles it fine as far as I know, it's the OSSC that's losing sync, not the TV.

I'll try that out. I'll possibly try out using composite and an s video cable with a retrotink2x to see if something similar happens.

I see. The OSSC reports 60.08 and 60.10 so it could just be a syncing problem exclusively with the scaler.
