It is a bit more arbitrary some of them could be used more often than others. There are 2 secret special partners, meaning there are a total of 22 of them numbered from upper left to lower right, with the same for the buttons weak to heavy punches to kicks in binary to select them, there could be a total of 63 special partners yet barely a third was offered. There should have been more special partners in the game.

I prefer the proceeding entry and sequel more. Primarily because there's an abundance of similar-ish Ansatsuken styled characters: Ryu, Ken, Gouki, Dan, Sakura, Cyclops, and Cap. It makes the game feel like the roster has less variety. In X-Men Vs. Street Fighter, for the latter, they tried to match the SF2 roster; maybe they could have replaced Dan+Sakura+Zangief with hyped up versions of Rose/Gen/Birdie/Adon to give an A2 flair for the SF side of the roster.

The tag mode is included. So long as both players agree to choose their partner character as their opponent's character.

I remember the only times this was heard was when the arcade opened and near closure time. The machine always had a crowd around it for constant challenges. At my location everyone preferred to choose Colossus or Psylocke as their 3rd character, but I opted for oddball ones like Michelle Hart which worked out better for the chip damage from War Machine+Strider.

It is because of the large install base on the Playstation platform. It is somewhat similar to having Capcom's A-team doing the SFC port and having an outsourced/D-team to do the MD port. A large portion of fighting game fans prefer to play on Microsoft platforms, but at that time the Xbox was not released yet, leaving Sony's console the primary way to play at home. Capcom used to port to a lot of home computers and platforms, but without modern day middleware like Unreal Engine, they needed unique individual teams for the work, and naturally they spend the resources putting the best teams where it would make the most money.

It is improved. There are a lot more game modes and unique home port exclusive features. To this day, they are still exclusive to the original Playstation port.

Why not appreciate it for all the console exclusive features and modes not found in the original. You can just use MAME for the "perfect fashion" if that's what you are looking for. Considerations were made in the console port to cater for a home audience with longevity.

Fake news. Tag team gameplay is present. Everyone keeps perpetuating that myth about the Playstation port.

Marvel always dominated the games. Gambit has one of the easiest to set up and easiest to execute infinites. Fast Venom has more difficult ones to do, but has so many Infinites from all sorts of setups. While I choose to main Strider-War Machine to cover more area of the screen with chip damage, War Machine-Armored War Machine does way more chip damage and is almost as effective. On Capcom's side I've only found Strider, Captain Commando, and Jin effective, but Marvel's side I can use practically everyone decently well. The gameplay is based on the Marvel games and thus, I feel that side of the roster was more able to utilize the advantages inherent as their native game, sort of like how I find the Fighting Vipers characters better than the Virtua Fighter characters in Fighters MEGAMiX as that was created in the style of the FV game opposed to the VF games, or the Capcom side dominating the SNK side in the CVS games made by Capcom.

I think I prefer the image of XvSF there, as it has the there with everyone yelling/screaming with their mouths open. Also my cousins had quite a bit of fun with the game too, she could not go back to "boring Ryu without a fireball his height".

Thanks. I think it was CVS2 that kept my circle of friends around together the most, before the inevitable moving away. The fighting games were very special.

Not the same person, but I liked using Strider+War Machine and Wolverine+War Machine. On original arcade hardware, due to slowdown (not present in the Dreamcast release), the chip damage was massive from War Machine's kick super (War Destroyer I think it was called) because every missile will count. It was even better when they choose to not guard or try to switch, because that's an instantly dead character. While the work was primarily done by fast characters like Strider (kick super covers a lot of area forcing opponents to guard) or Wolverine with his fantastic vertical dive kick causing a guess on which direction to guard, and letting War Machine's kick super do a lot of work. I won't call War Machine top, but he can hold his own okay, but war destroyer is hillarious (in a double War Machine team, can make the whole game on CPS2 flicker out to just the background flashes while massive chip damage occurs).

I would also say that the Cannon brother there also has a bit imprecise history too when I skipped to the 26 minute mark. When he described the 2000-2010 as "the dark ages" as it was not my reality where "no new fighting games were being made." During that span I remember I enjoyed SNK-Playmore games (they kept making KOFs and all those NGPC fighters), Arc System Works titles, Virtua Fighter games, Soul Calibur games, Dead or Alive games, tons of doujin fighters, etc. Even Capcom had releases like Capcom Fighting Jam, Project Justice, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, Sengoku Basara X, etc. which I also really enjoyed playing. However, I will admit I am wrong in how I worded tournament organizers when I should have specified some tournament organizers. I remember a different time, not the linked video, they destroyed another Dreamcast on a stream it was around the time the XBLA release was announced. It is still hard for me to watch, as I do like the system. I even remember they sold the smashed remains of those Dreamcast systems for $20 each, I suppose to support the tournament getting more.

In that same video, they mentioned why they blew through so many: people were plugging in various controllers that random people may cobble together that sends improper currents through to the console. When even he said the regular Dreamcast controllers work fine, it is just the risks of having hundreds of strangers taking their turn sticking strange controllers into the Dreamcast.

Ah well, I am not saying I am any authority on the matter, just remembering the good times I had playing MVC2.

I remember all those different points for the Japanese version. I held onto my save for a long time, as I could not get any N-points. Good thing there's the Capcom Battle Fan Disc (lower left of my previous post), which was included with CVS2. It has complete savegames for all variations of Capcom Dreamcast releases. It was sort of Capcom's "goodbye Dreamcast" disc.
