I have no idea how anybody can say that with a straight face.

It's hilariously easy. I've played through it on the highest difficulty to see the true ending, and the only differences are the number of enemies and amount of health they have. On top of, it still showers you with enough continues to just brute force your way through the game.

Worst of all, it does nothing whatsoever to improve on the original's formula. Whereas SOR2 was a giant leap forward in terms of everything, FF2 is still the exact same barebones 3-hit combo-one-throw-unless-you're-Haggar-jumpkick routine that the first game was. It's embarrassingly lazy.

And then there's that goddamn Holland stage. Its gimmick is that there are landmines everywhere. They don't do all that damage, so they're really more annoying than dangerous, but because you have to awkwardly pace around them to try to get the enemies to blow themselves up, the pace just slows down to a crawl. And while all of this is happening, this godawful thing keeps droning in the background:

Oh, and it only has three characters to choose from.

I guess they realized how much they fucked up with this one and tried to actually improve the gameplay in FF3, but by then it was too little too late, and BK3 smokes it in every regard.
