From the old school shooters Blood is still king.

Doom was amazing, Doom 2 dropped the ball hard. For a sequel there was no improvements. Few new enemies (fuck the Pain Elemental) the SSG which was added just for balance and levels were inconsistent and dull as shit. The design of the first 1/3 was OK but then...

I mean, D1 did it well, space station looks like it should, so does hell and the in between base getting possessed. D2 failed at making anything look like anything and the key hunting was tedious. The levels that were gimmicky should have been put aside as an extra or some shit, but every level feels created by a different person with no idea on what he's doing.

Also everything looked brown, the enemies were too many at the time and made it unfair. Hit scanner chaingunners plus revenants and barons of hell? Hell of an idea of fun...

Oh, looks like that might have been the issue then. I did get a devbuild since Tilt wasn't working with my older GZDoom. Got a non-dev build and it works again. Thanks for pointing that out.
