While I don't necessarily consider it to be better than the original and it cerrtainly has its faults, I think the DS remake is a great example of a remake and I'm glad it exists. More games should have the balls to be a genuine remake - something that takes the source material and interprets it through a new lens - rather than falling back on sterile iteration and removing any excitement from the original. Lufia 2 and its remake can perfectly co-exist since they are entirely different experiences, and remakes as a concept wouldn't be nearly as dull if more devs approached it like the DS remake did.
