Is Final Fantasy overrated here or fully deserving of its praise as the best franchise ever (maybe even underrated due to the contrarian hate)?
The PS1 ones are great, and SNES ones aren't that far behind.

I'm really on the fence with this game.

It's by no means a bad game but something irks me. I think it has many good ideas. I like many locations, many enemy designs and the soundtrack, while not among my favorites, has some really good tunes.

But overall I didn't enjoy it as much as FF titles before or after it.

Anyone shares my sentiments?

FF8 thread I guess.
