It's a stupid barrier to entry that does nothing but sabotage old people wanting to replay doom or kids wanting to experience the 'old school' of the new hot FPS on the market.

It's like purposefully tripping someone when they're trying to learn karate and then punching them in the face because they looked up the wrong guides and joined the wrong dojo. Anybody who knows about doom modding is going to be able to circumvent it, and anyone who's trying to get into doom and sees a buncha high profile mods and think they seem cool and fun will basically end up bricking their install.

Instead of gatekeeping based on skill or game knowledge you've erected a gate based on culture and meta. It's stupid and retarded. Doom is a game that literally runs on anything with a screen, it shouldn't beat up clueless noobs because they downloaded the wrong mods or wads.

I mean, it's easy to fix it yourself, but the point is, you shouldn't have to do that. When the player downloads a mod, and before he even starts playing it they have to fix a fuck up you made in the code, that's a sign that your mod is badly put together.
