Well they pushed the release of the console forward for no reason, fucked up the schedule of many devs, fucked over the other devs like EA who caused a public fuss and created a bad image.

Finally they released it only 2 weeks before Sony's curb stomp of a console which had been hyped like the second coming of jesus.

I'm getting lots of slow down in ALL of the games I try to play on my old PS1. I'm also getting bad stuttering. It is the the original big grey one that I've had since I was a child. I had just recently pulled it out of storage.

Is there anything that needs to be done as maintenance for old ps1s that will fix this such as replacing capacitors?

how much can I sell my old fat ps1 for?

Hey /vr/ I need your help.

All day I've been racking my brain trying to remember a game I played as a kid (I'm now 20) I'm not 100% sure if it was a ps1 or ps2 game. It was a third person fantasy medieval themed game, I believe you start of in a castle, in the game you'd solve puzzles, and one level i remember was an island level where you would have to run up the island via running around it, and would have to dodge traps and jump over holes. and i believe when you got near the top youd have to jump over/dogde a bolder being pushed down by something at the top. I cannot remember anymore I am sorry but i hope this may be enough information for someone to remember, I am from the UK if that helps (?) Please help me find this game to relieve my childhood.

Best way to play "backups" on a SCPH-5501 PS1? I've gotten disc swapping to work, but I'm afraid of killing of drive over time, and also the audio skips on some DDR games I've tried. I've seen some things like "Game Enhancers" and stuff, and apparently some are supposed to kill the disc drive from spinning so you don't have to kill the drive. What's my best option for under $20?

I don't have much detail to go off of since I only saw a part of the opening once and it was back in late 90s, what I do remember is that the graphics were anime like, had a female lead and was card based.

I normally don't go to /vr/ that often but there is something that has been bugging my mind for a few days now and even Google isn't able to help me with it.

There used to be this video game on the PS1 where you had to place bombs on the right timing in order to clear the screen from enemies. On contrary to Bomberman this was a sidescrolling game.
I also remember two (I think) boss fights, one was a cube that continued growing whenever it was hit and another boss was a zeppelin.

This is all I remember about this game.
Does any of you have an idea what it was called?

So I need help finding the name of a game from many years ago. My memories of it are limited other than it was on the PS1/X and my description. Please help.

There was a game where you played as a red haired chick, some kind of side scrolling action game. She wasn't always red haired, was blonde until she touched some weird class cylinder with some weird creature in it. once that happens everything goes red and you see like a coin spinning towards the camera. There's also some guy that I inferred was the main characters dad. the enemies you fought were these weird red tentacle things that came out of the ground, there were also more types I can't remember.

Is there a way to rip assets from PS1 games? I'm in need of a few but would rather not make copies from scratch if I can avoid it.

I want to play some PS1 games, especially survival horror like SH, RE, DC, PE, etc, which is the best way?

PC emulation + CRT? (also what type of cables should I use, I only have DVI and HDMI on my GPU)

PS2 BC + Component cables + LCD?

PS2 BC + CRT?

I ask because I don't have a CRT right now but I can get one if it's a better experience.

Can /vr/ recommend anything like no intro for PlayStation and Saturn roms? High quality no bullshit rips.

Not really looking for a mas download of the complete collections. But I am looking for a lot so completeness is needed.

3D fighting game on the PS1 that is nothing like Tekken or Virtua Fighter, rather there's this big arena you move freely around and you can use melee and ranged attacks to kill the enemy.
I remember there was a character that looked like Jean from Tekken too. I think.

So...PS1 started reseting randomly.
It's always on the same game though, even though in different discs. But it's reseting randomly. Any advice guys?

I'm looking to play some video games all night and I've been itching to play some PS1 titles I missed.

Just need some fun stuff that is hard to put down, and can be beaten within 10 hours or less. (Give or take a few hours)

A few games I previously beat are
