Well, I did it. I shelled out the ~$500 over the last few years pretty lackadaisically in order to try and recover my childhood. So, I have an n64, the newest and best flash cart to play every game, and even got my friend to solder-in the HDMI board. It is officially the pinnacle of N64 technology and

meh. The nostalgia-tinted glasses were too high a prescription. Mario 64 is one of the greatest games of all time, but after that it's just lacking. Goldeneye aged like milk. Mario Kart doesn't have the fucking music playing if you're 3 players or up. Honestly, the only thing good is Mario Party 3 with friends, but 20 turn minimum is fucking nuts when you just want to play for half an hour.

In retrospect, it's like all emulator business, in that it's fun to set up and max out everything you're doing, but the games at the end of the day just aren't that fun. Just buy a Nintendo Switch.
