/vr/ - Retro Games

Playing this classic for the first time, really loved the first few missions, but once I got to this piece of shit I nearly called it quits. Is there a worse mission in either this or Thief 2 or is this as bad as it gets?

Does anyone else think the Thief games are just sort of tedious? Especially on Expert Mode?

I just beat Thief Gold, and it's been awhile since last time, so let's have a Thief thread. Favorite/most hated levels, impressions, stories, [spoilers]confessions[/spoiler], whatever.

I'm on the third level right now, where you have to snag Horn of Quintus.
I'm really enjoying this game so far, although:
1: I know I'm probably a giant pussy, but I find it extremely spooky and creepy (I pressed Escape out of reflex when I jumped into that room in the crypt with a face that started talking to me)
2: I spend 2 hours on every single level because I just get lost really easily. On this level, between the burrick caves and the actual crypts everything looks the same.

Just beat Thief Gold and Thief 2.

Wow. Amazing games. I definitely liked Thief 2 more for the awesome level design, but goddamn it is buggy unpatched. And not being able to bunny hop sucks.

But yeah, I was surprised at how good the storytelling was in both games. I'm definitely going to have to go back through them later on higher difficulties and pay more attention to the letters and notes left around everywhere. Also less save scumming.
