It's a shame it shipped with ancient default controls and not explaining that you can play with better ones.
Defaults are like for a beginner fps player.
Before even starting you turn on always run and freelook with mouse(apart from binding keys and setting sound and video).

I shipped my mod with more civilized default bindings and settings.
