I just got off from playing Q2CTF and the game is quite active compared to most games released of that time. There is always a deathmatch server with players.

The Q3 SSG does 10 damage less than the Q2 SSG and is just too weak to warrant use compared to the lightning gun, railgun, or rocket launcher. Q2 has more useful main weapons than every other Quake due to how situational they can be at times. You will never get weapons like the hyperblaster in any other quake which is very useful while out of control since it pierces a layer of armor.
