Back in the day, I bought a lot of games published by Origin, Lucasarts/Lucasfilm Games, Sierra, and MegaTech. Then I got into the shareware scene, and registered titles from Apogee, Epic Megagames, and id. Demo discs included with PC Gamer magazine introduced me to all the fun I had with Bullfrog and Blizzard titles.

Stuff I have fond memories playing:

Origin = Ultima 7 (all of part 1&2), Wing Commander 2 & Privateer

Lucasarts = Sam & Max: Hit the Road, X-Wing/Tie-Fighter, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Day of the Tentacle

Sierra = King's Quest 6, Leisure Suit Larry 5, Conquests of Longbow, Space Quest 6

MegaTech = Cobra Mission, Knights of Xentar

Apogee = Halloween Harry (registered prior to renaming to Alien Carnage), Wolfenstein 3D

Epic Megagames = Epic Pinball, Solar Winds, Tyrian, Zone 66

id = Doom, Heretic

EA/Bullfrog = Syndicate, Theme Park

Blizzard = Warcraft 2

Shoutouts to: Star Control 2, UFO, Civilization, Masters of Magic, Legend of Kyrandia, and Scorched Earth

I had a great time with DOS, just as much as my SNES and cousin's Genesis in that time period.

I tried selling a few of my old big box PC games to a local retro game store. I didn't bring the best stuff, I just wanted to test the waters of selling off my stuff first. They wouldn't accept any except for Terminator: Rampage, which I don't think I even got a single US dollar in credit. I debate if it would feel better to just destroy some of the ones I don't want than get the pennies they are worth (Eternam, Return to Zork, etc. which the store refused). However, I still keep the ones I like to this day just because they are fond memories.

As for the pic, I know I am missing Power Dolls, which I want.

I like the manuals and official guidebooks to all the Ultima 7 releases. They were written as if they belonged in the universe of the game. Ultima 7: The Black Gate had a book called "The Fellowship" included inside the box which was an in-game book one can get some excerpts from. They included cloth maps, a stone.

I kind of miss the packaging that sometimes went with games. Items like cloth maps, coins, trinkets, etc. Whatever you may think of with Working Designs' translations, it is undeniable that their packaging with games tend to be top tier. It helps that the packaging made it costly to just make a bootleg imitation, but it actually felt like you bought something special. I know they still do it with special limited releases with top games still, but it seemed like the manuals sometimes were part of the experience of a new game too, at least for me.
