Shinobi 3
>very mediocre music
>boring level designs
>way too many autoscrollers
>enemies and bosses with limited patterns (e.g. that slime humanoid, you'd think he'd punch you if you get close, but nope all he can do is spit a loogie at you)
>bland enemies and bosses
>a lot of empty space for you to run on
>extremely easy game that you can breeze through after 1-2 playthroughs. the difficulty level only changes the size of your health bar
>another stupid pointless cliche ending where you're standing on a cliff looking at the horizon
Nice-looking but boring, uninspired, bland game.


Revenge of Shinobi
>some of the best 16-bit music of all time
>some of the best level designs of all time
>superb balancing in every single aspect
>extremely memorable bosses and enemies thanks to loose Jap. copyright laws of the time (Rambo, Terminator turning into Hulk, Spiderman, Batman, Jackie Chan, Godzilla, etc)
>action-packed, literally no empty spaces, every screen has enemies or platforming
>final boss is fucking memorable where you have to save your girlfriend at the same time
>always fun and challenging leading to infinite replayability

10 out of fucking 10, literally the MMX1 and Assault Suit Valken of the Mega Drive.

What is the best game on the genesis and why is it this?

I've owned pic related since it came out and only last year found out about the 6-button control scheme. It makes the game piss easy but it's a very fun way to play.

Love both series but I would say Joe and especially if it's Joe from Shinobi 3.

Love all the Shinobi games but this is by far my favorite.

All Shinobi games are good but without a doubt Shinobi3 is by far the overall best.

Post games with hidden/alternative/advanced control options.

Shinobi 3 has a hidden 6 button control mode.

Picked this gem up on cover alone back in the day. Still is my fav Genesis game.

I've been playing Shinobi III for the first time and I can't believe how much better it is than Revenge of Shinobi.

I've pretty much got the entire game memorized from beginning to the godzilla scene. For me playing this game is kinda like performing a dance.
