Dracula X > Super Casualvania IV

Why is the general consensus that this game is bad? It's genuinely challenging, not bullshit hard. Richter controls fluently even without the mid air control, the graphics and music are excellent, and it's the most satisfying classicvania to master.

What went wrong?

It had a better soundtrack than Rondo of Blood

Are there any "lesser" ports/remakes/alt-versions/etc that you somehow prefer to the "superior" original?

Pic-related for me, the original/Rondo is unanimously preferred however, this SNES/Dracula X version offers a higher difficulty than Rondo. Rondo is more intricately designed and has charming cutscenes but it offers basically no challenge after you’ve completed it once. I like that it has all the branching paths it does, it offers more than Dracula X in that regard. But once you’ve been through it all there’s little reason to revisit it outside of enjoying the visuals and music. Dracula X is a game I’ve beaten probably 10 times but it still remains a solid challenge. It also has more impressive visuals than Rondo in a few areas. The first stage being a good example.
Richter’s nerfed movement speed and the simple fact that there’s less content makes it easy to prefer Rondo, but Dracula X is the game I’m consistently returning to.

It's like they wanted to create the biggest pile of dogshit possible. Golly gee I love getting knocked back 10 feet by enemies with bigger hitboxes than their sprites with no recovery frames, and that Dracula fight is literally the worst boss in video game history.

/Terrible Ports General/

Let's take all of the great design aspects of Rondo of Blood and throw that shit out and instead spam 4-5 Knight Spear guys in each room, let's also make the game shorter but harder, and we can't let players play as a little girl so no Maria. Oh you know how pussy the Dracula fight is? Let's cover half of the arena with pits so the player will fall off and die after getting hit xD oh and make sure to spawn the player at the start of the entire stage if they get a game over!

You only hate it because it lacks the exclusivity and weebness of Rondo of Blood.

Why the hell people say that Dracula X is a bad game? Sure it's not as good as Rondo of Blood but still a great game on it's own.

Castlevania X/XX/Vampire's Kiss. This game is pretty competent by itself if you aren't expecting "SNES Rondo of Blood: The Absolute and 100% Faithful Port".

Finally beat it last week after years of hardship!
