A really good obscure fighter I would recommend is Dark Awake. The game play is in teams of 3, plus an item. The team members switch in the same style as KOF, but team mates on the bench can perform assists, and your item is available as well. The theme of the game is D&D like, with an elf team, dark elf team, human team, skeleton team etc. It's a really good game, available on Japanese PSN, and I would totally recommend it.
