Tcl/Tk is pretty nice & simple to code for. I made some programs in it for work-related stuff. Seems like it would work ok for that kind of game.

Only one of those I heard about is Deliantra and it looked like a graphically-enhanced version or something, I guess for people who are used to newer Windows games with lots of flashy effects. Not my thing though, I like simple and old school stuff more.

Here's a Win32 screen. Couldn't find any Win16 pictures, even though that would seem to fit the game perfectly.

That player-killing stuff sounds messed up... I'm almost afraid to try any MUDs now. Don't they have any where that kind of stuff isn't allowed?

Also, I'm not familiar with the whole MMO stuff, what is this "matchmaking" thing? I'm guessing it's like the game hooks you up with other adventurers of around same experience level as your player character?

BTW, I've been meaning to try this game (pic related):

I guess it's more of a realtime online RPG that a MUD, but it's been around for decades and still going strong, so there must be something good about it. Anyway try it?
