Yeah, yes. The whole point is you never need to stop to grind for money for spells and armor. It's the long established fastest way to get through the game, the meme is a meme for a reason.

Am I the only one who dislikes playing a full-complement well-rounded party? And I mean in every game that allows you to create your own. Not as extreme as bals to the wall, but I usually play without a mage/wizard. This is why I hate if the game penalizes or even hardlocks you for not having a certain class in your party. One example is in FF3 where you had to go with an all-magic team to pass a certain boss, even though the game allows you to change class at will. Also I used the image and example of JRPGs, but this would apply more on WRPGs like Wizardry or Might and Magic, and especially DnD ones which often penalizes you heavily for not having a wizard/thief in your party.

Anyway, for those who do, post your default party.
Mine would be Paladin - Fighter - Barbarian - Rogue.

Storage limitations and immature knowledge of the Playstation hardware would be my guess.

There are fanmade mods for the PC version that switched out the low-poly/super-deformed models with more proportional models. I think they just look awkward since the animations weren't changed from the original. The scale between the new models and the backgrounds are way off in my opinion too.

FFVII was the only PS Final Fantasy game I actually finished. Got far in IX, but stopped playing for some reason or another and just haven't gotten back into it. I dropped VIII after only a few hours.

My go-to team for FF1 on the NES is

The early game is expensive, especially grinding Ogres for exp and gold around Elfland, but worth it if you get a hold of 2 silver swords, Fire 2 and Cure 2.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention when I was fellating FF6 that it has the single greatest RPG ending in the history of the genre, maybe even the greatest ending in the history of video games.

This is kind of an odd question but is rolling your party a strictly /vr/ thing? I can't think of a major game made after 2000 where you directly create a whole party, deciding all the stats and classes. It was nice to see that stuff come back in Grimrock.
