I've been playing Genesis games on a newer CRT lately, and noticed the dithering effects don't work to create fake transparency like on my other TVs. You can clearly see each pixel. So do PVMs really look that "good"? I'm usually pretty happy with composite on an old cheap CRT to sort of blend things together and utilize the "half pixel" effect that a lot of sprite artists used
