Why did this term ever become so controversial? Sega Genesis had a faster CPU and its games usually ran faster and at higher resolutions than SNES.

So many fun action arcade games, schmups, beat em ups, fast paced platformers and surprisingly solid sports titles. Superior versions of games toolike Earthworm Jim or Mortal Kombat. It was a console for people who lived life on the edge, just constant momentum just go-go-go, the whole thing was a frenetic, kinetic movement that has never been repeated since.

Lot's of boring, slow and tepid platformers being overshadowed by Bing Bing Wahoo World, which was the shittiest and easiest 2D Mario out of the original quadrology. Very very slow platformers with shitty music, and the only other genre you could enjoy in reasonable quantities were slow, boring JRPGs, that genre only mentally stunted hobgoblins enjoy, where you mash A repeatedly over dialogue and commands to grind for hours on end.

About the only really actual good game was DKC2, and thats purely due to the witchcraft of Rareware at the time. Anything else was a bust. I'm seriously curious as to what kind of person grew up with the SNES and how its affected them later on in life. Are they THAT boring and slow witted like those games?

Yeah nah, nice try, but I was born and raised in the American heartlands, this isnt the eternal euro cope that most of you Nintendofags like to use a lot of the time. I later on of course moved on to Nintendo with N64 onwards due to the shitty Saturn imploding but Genesis was the real deal. Its okay to admit you lost at least one generation cycle. Not in terms of sales but in terms of winning the people's hearts. Why else are we still debating this shit to this day?

That was a bit too generous of an assessment if anything. From my experience, Rolfe seems pretty ignorant about pretty everything gamign related outside the NES and Super NES games he grew up with or read about from Nintendo Power (I doubt he even read any other magazine growing up). It's pretty obvious by how bias his SNES vs. Genesis video was (and this is coming from someone who grew up as a Nintendofag).
