What are some retro games you played for the first time much later after it came out as an adult?

I just finished Super Mario World for the SNES a week ago aged 31.
I played the original NES game and Super Mario Land 2 for the Gameboy before, just never bothered to finish the SNES game

Does any single retro platforming game come close to the SMB3/SMW?

I tried so many but none of them reach the complexity.
The level/world structure, the secrets, the power-ups, the way each individual level is well thought out and designed. Every other platformer seems really simple in comparison and unpolished.

Are there any other platformers on that level?

It's resolution in pixel art a big cope to hide lack of skill?

Because I see SMW as aging visually far better than other 2D games and 3D games, and it's just 32x32 sprite tiles.

Sure, you got psx games like Xenogears.
But SMW doesn't look worse than them.

It still look visually good.

Same for many SNES jrpgs like ToP and CT and FFVI.

They still look fine when compared to higher res pixel art games.
And they're 32x32 SNES character tiles.

Mario is too good. It makes me feel bad for other games.

Why is this objectively the best classic 2D mario?

>It’s just a slightly beefy NES with more colors and some funny graphical effects.

Why do people seem to prefer Mario World over Mario Bros 3?

World is still a great game and one of the best platformers ever made, but it kinda lacked in environmental variety imo compared to Super Mario Bros 3.

That's about how much most CRTs go for. I don't know about RCA or if you made the right choice, but 10 dollars is a small price to pay for lagless super mario. Enjoy, anon.

Super Mario World for SNES is overrated. The graphics aren't just simplistic - they are shit. Often it's just blue skies with clouds and a platform. Not even much parallax. Look at the backgrounds in Sonic. Green Hill Zone. God there is so much going on. Parallax layers, great animated water ... Stuff is busy and fun to look at. Mario looks like done by a child. Also his skin colour looks like awkward sunburn. Shitty shading. Then you have a bush background which is also just a pattern that loops forever. The backgrounds in Mario are lazy and dull. The engine is a personal taste but Mario is always sliding like if there was bukake on the platforms even when it isn't ice. The acceleration and slowing down when running is just annoying too.

1) I am dead serious and not trolling 2) I am open for everything so you can still convince me
