I need an opinion of someone who is not a rabid N64 fanboy (of which there are too many lately). Are N64 Castlevania games worth playing? I've checked them on emulator and they look interesting but I hope the developers didn't put the best what these games can offer into the opening areas. I don't want to play a game and realize that it is a dogshit after I spent more that 30 minutes on it.
Also can vanilla CV64 be skipped in favor of Legacy of Darkness?

Wow that's pretty good. Not "10/10 good" of course but I'm in love with its atmosphere and music. Gameplay is... acceptable enough I guess.
Was AVGN wrong all along, guys?

I actually had a good time playing through Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness. It has one of my favorite Castlevania casts with Cornell, Reinhardt Schneider, and Henry Oldrey being really fun. The atmosphere was really comfy to me. I really liked the improvements they made over the original. Genuinely recommended.
