To clarify, ZDoom's netcode guy, Edward850, thinks peer-to-peer is the end-all be-all.

Zandronum does modern client/server/master server, adjusting ZDoom code where necessary (adding things like "clientsideonly" flags for decorative actors like the Quake explosion particles in Samsara, etc)

Merging the two would probably mean a shitload of code clashes and headaches, and needing to make all of the ZDoom functions C/S latency friendly and introduce new flags to accomodate that: basically what Z&'s doing already.
