Mae is good, yeah, but I can barely think of characters that don't have a place in my party in SF1 for one reason or another, so I often end up swapping her out.
She's indispensable in runs that skip optional characters though.

No clue on that system, I know 3 has one, that doesn't affect anything but boni, but that's the first time I've heard of it for 1. That said as far as I know from some play, the dialogue in the HQ on the GBA game seem to imply a Max x Mae thing. Might also just be confirmation bias tho.

I am not gonna lie and say I am not biased towards them quite a bit, because I am, but yeah.
The fact that the series moved away from having that large host of races that it used to have after camelot left is a shame to say the least. Doubly so because there seem to be very few games that do that kinda thing.
But if anything we got a bunch of fun games.
Also Centorea needs to get a chestpiece that isn't a pair of boob sleeves, it just still looks wrong

Too bad it's one of the only series that even has any. But at least it's a good series.

On a similar note, shame neither of the dungeon crawlers really feature the mess of races Shining has to offer tho, from what I recall it's mostly humans for those. And even more of a shame that the more recent releases just droped most of them completely. That Valkyria Chronicles like entry on the PSP would've been my dream come true if the game was actually in the same style to the Camelot ones, but as is it's just wasted potential.

Also sad that Feather was never translated officially or with a patch, it does look like fun, if also a bit overdesigned for the characters in places
