the gamecube has a sharper output than early wiis, later wii models are slightly better but they're still worse than the gamecube
in my opinion its not really worth the extra, plus if you're using nintendont on the wii you have better performance, can force progressive scan on almost all games, use widescreen patches, use any controller you want and other stuff
as for the wii vs wii u, I would just go with component on the wii to avoid extra scaling fuckery and/or vwii latency
