It's also just traffic in general. In the old days, (I mean REALLY old days) You could make a post on /v/, go to sleep and it would still be there and it didn't even have to be a popular thread. Hell some boards just had threads stick around for a good week because of how slow things were and the ever feared 'Marked for Deletion (old)' It was more personal so you had a more vested interest in keeping the quality up, unlike today where people just do it to take their aggression out or kill time.


But yeah, off topic nostalgia. Unless people want to talk about the good old days when the only 100+ episode that was subbed was Pacman.
