Anyone else dreamed of working in Black Mesa, whether it'd be as a scientist, security or just like a janitor / warehouse / maintenance worker etc?

Or, extending this : which retro fps universe would you want to live / exist in? Preferably more than just as the shooty pooty man.

>Best video game of all time coming through
Well, best for nostalgia in any case. It's the first shooter game I actually gave a shit about. You see, I was way into HoMM III, AOE II and even racing games (remember Stunts for DOS?) and I could make custom maps in all of them. I used to play Wolfenstein 3d and I'd usually give up pretty soon because of motion sickness caused by a wierd mix of 2d sprites in a 3d environment. My cousin had a really good laptop (at the time) and would always come to spend the summer vacation with his grandparents who lived in my town. That meant that I'd go to his grandparent's house to play video game and he'd come to my place to do the same. Well, one summer he brought a game called Half-Life: Blue Shift.
The tram ride scene was the first time I got floored by the atmosphere of a shooter.

We had no idea what the plot was about (not native English speakers) aside from a random security guard trying to save scientists from an alien invasion since we didn't know there was this other Half-Life game. So you can imagine how excited I was after getting the original Half-Life to play on my own a year or so later. The atmosphere was equally engaging, the weapon variety was larger, the overarching story far more intriguing and memorable and what to say about the soundtrack! I have to admit I felt betrayed when I found out recently that some of the most memorable music pieces of Half-Life were sampled by Kelly Bailey from some other songs:

That being said, no other FPS ever made me feel the way Half-Life did and I'm deeply disappointed by Valve for not choosing to complete the trilogy. So yeah, the game is good. I've heard that System Shock 1 & 2 were superior than Half-Life (in some aspects) but I never got to play them.

PS. Here's a cool video I've found:
