Don't play Chaotix or Mania then, the levels are even longer in those, especially Amazing Arena which you have to play five times like every other Chaotix stage. I personally never had a huge problem with most of the levels but a few of them are kind of dragged out now that I think about it (mostly CNZ, LBZ, SZ, DEZ, and a few others).

You might like Sonic CD though the general consensus from Sonic 2 fans is that the level design is wonky and the time travel gimmick is annoying. I agree with the latter but the only "bad" level for me is Wacky Workbench for obvious reasons. The rest of the game is pretty smooth and really showcases the SEGA CD hardware nicely. What levels gave you trouble OP? Also don't forget you can play as Knuckles in Sonic 2 with lock-on

Their relationship gives me little sister vibes, like Sonic is the type that saves her because he has to, not necessarily because he wants to. Which makes sense considering she is like twelve

I prefer it over Dynamite Headdy. Astal is kind of similar in some ways but I still prefer Ristar. In fact, I kind of wish they could've made a proper sequel on Saturn instead of that game.

It's not really even in the same category, it's more of a score attack action game than a proper 3D platformer. As fun and inventive as the game is, I have to admit I still prefer the Sonic games, 2D and 3D. It's fun for a while but going for a high score/A Rank usually requires going around the same loop over and over again as opposed to Sonic and Crash which are just straightforward.

Flying in Mario 64 is a little more satisfying although you can't really pull off all of the same tricks, but it's a real treat being able to fly in 3D which you obviously can't really do as much in NiGHTS.

I tend to agree with this post in regards to A-Life and 3D. It feels like they are both semi-functioning but it's never really properly explained, especially the A-Life system.

The mere existence of Christmas NiGHTS is bizarre to me, it's fun but really silly to me that it exists solely as a Sampler disc and not a part of something bigger. It really feels like Sonic Team's priorities were all over the place on Saturn

I wouldn't compare Sonic 1 to Kirby. If anything it's closer to Gunstar Heroes or Vectorman. I don't see Japanese Sonic as particularly cutesy either compared to the likes of Doraemon and Pikachu. Even in early concept art, he always had a 'tude. Personality-wise he's probably closer to Goku or something than any Nintendo character

Can we just admit that Sonic wank is retarded?
>a bunch of 3 guys make a game about running through a dreamland
>also the character is a hedgehog because they can curl into balls and it's a unique gimmick
>also there are goofy enemies, because it's a game, and games have to have enemies

>uhhhhhhh this was actually a deep metaphor about the humanitarian ethical struggles of the industrial era or something

Why do people have to justify things they like with this type of nonsense?
