Can't leave bed. Wanna play some games, SNES or Genesis. What should I play? I like gameplay heavy games (no RPG). What are your favourites for each console?

As a guy who's just bought his first NES 2 months ago and spent over $200 on mediocre carts amounting to a whopping 23 games, I have come to a point of realization.

Maybe the flashcarts aren't a bad idea.

I'm a 24 year old manchild with somewhat low income and a wife, I'll never be the guy with a complete collection of ~700 NES carts, loose, CIB or dare I say SEALED. It's just not a reasonable thing to accomplish. And that wouldn't be the only system I'd love having a complete collection. Who wouldn't want to have a video game museum in their own home?

Before you become an elitist fag, realize where you come from. Perhaps you didn't buy a flashcart or never had the necessity to run an emulator, but at one point there were games you just couldn't have and others did. Maybe you borrowed some and never gave them back, maybe you rented them and magically 'lost' them. Either way, we all know the struggle.

What will I do? After just recently realizing I've begun a battle I can't win easily, I have decided to cut my losses. Sell my carts and get a flashcart, then pocket whatever is left. It's my happy middle ground. Of course it's not as good as plucking any game I want off of a shelf in a library of games, but it's better than the old days of emulating with just a keyboard.

Us retro gamers are always living in the past, sometimes in a past we never had. There's a big gap between riding a bicycle and driving a ferrari. Sometimes we'll never get that ferrari but we can always dream. And those with the ferraris can look down and reflect on the low points.

So yeah, give us poorfags a break. That is all.
After all, like this post and every post before and after it, games don't last forever... enjoy them if and when you can.

Man, why is DC emulation so shit?

Don't get me wrong, many of may games work just fine and I appreciate all the time and effort that the developers put into their emulators, but it has been so long now and there still are huge issues with a lot of titles.

Look at the Dolphin emulator community. Very coordinated with a huge amount of developers making huge contributions to the emulator, and improving game compatibility every single day.

I just wish the DC scene was more like that.
