This is indeed one of the things i enjoyed more of this game, truly.

It was actually awesome starting with very crappy cards and seeing in the first city the strongest cards of the game at insanely high prices. It was an incentive to git gud at card games by knowing that such awesome cards existed. Thankfully you can get them though Cardmons during late game.

But the card battles were very difficult, especially the later ones. It was also mandatory defeating BK Agumon at a card battle in order to progress in a sidequest. I challenged those opponents many times and each time i prayed so that the RNG was in my favour, and usually it took 5-6 tries defeating each opponent.
Only recently i discovered the underground Digimons that gave you a one-of-a-kind card if you defeated them.

Meanwhile, when i tried for the first time the postgame of the PAL version...
>many new (insanely) high levelled card battlers to deal with
>decide to challenge one
>using my deck that allowed to win many of the battles during the game easily
>summon 4 high-end Digimon at first turn having a total of 200/200 at ATK/DEF, neato
>opponents summons 6 Palmons
>uses a card that gives +50ATK/DEF at EACH of his green Digimon, god never saw that card prior to postgame anywhere
>opponent has double ATK/DEF than mine
>got rekt even during the second round
>mfw
And obviously if you tried to alter the flow of the game with program cards the opponent always play the magical card, Freeze bug.
I am playing the PAL version on the emulator, i can't win even by using the fucking savestates. The only way to win is by making the opponent discard his hand and draw another one (because opponents draw the same patterns of cards, they are not randomly generated, and usually their second hand is crappy), but it is insanely hard to pull this combo if you don't draw the required cards in the same hand. You can win only by making a perfect play.

It is so painful playing cards at DW3, that i love it so much.
