While I agree they could use buffs, Capcom sure disagreed and nerfed all 3 of them in Zero 2 Alpha/Alpha 2 Gold. However, Vega/M.Bison and Nash are my main+secondary characters in base Alpha 2 so there is enough. Nash is probably the best character to start with, as his CC is the easiest and what introduced me to using them more often ; he's my goto character to use if my opponent chooses to use Dan. As for Vega/M.Bison, I had tons of fun with him as my main, but being mid-tier is such a struggle against half the cast, and I constantly have to deal with endless Ken/Ryu/Gouki (top tier whores) players: https://youtu.be/1tvT1zThS90

I can't do the 360s and 720s of the grappler characters. Then again, I have no desire to play the bottom tier characters and make due with everyone else.

Is that the early Japanese version without Evil Ryu and his unfinished programming? If so, that is pretty good since that character has everyone else behaving differently than they should.

Imagine constant Ken vs Ken matches. Zero 2 Alpha (Alpha 2 Gold), took the approach to buff the top tiers and nerf everyone else. I had to ditch my main who was originally mid-tier and go to my tertiary character of originally high tier Rolento to even be viable in Z2A only because his original/custom combos still work. I think what makes it less interesting is the universal nerf of zero/alpha counters taking 1.5 meters to perform, which means every character has less tools and or slower access to potential than it was originally with only 1 meter. The nerfs to bottom tier characters like Gen, Birdie, Zangief, means it is even more unlikely to even see the characters already. Top tier characters tend to have more/faster movement options, so they can cancel into original/custom combos which maintains velocity and has match viablility opposed to characters like my main (Vega/M.Bison) which got reduced movement speed and reduced jump speed leading to only one theoretical startup if opponent is dumb enough to continually jump into it without guarding. It is why you see those glitch videos where characters continually float and attack.

Amazing game which was pretty much almost right the first time. I couldn't believe the botched "balancing" work Capcom did in Zero2Alpha, where they buffed the top tiers and nerfed everyone else. Even shit tiers like Birdie/Zangief/Gen had their only previously viable options taken away, but was at least almost playable in Alpha 2.

He is actually mid-tier in Alpha 2, where he's my main. He loses hard to common characters Ken/Ryu/Gouki/Nash like 2:8 and has to work hard against Guy/Rolento at a disadvantaged 3:7 matchups, but dictator has key advantages against Zangief/Gen/Birdie/Dan/Sodom 7:3 to make up for it. No matter how hard I try that 2:8 disadvantage against the most common characters is very difficult to overcome: https://youtu.be/Mjh5V3LHTFs

The only reason I can imagine your difficulty is that you main a grappler, Gen, or Dan. I don't use them except for Dan, and your best option is to catch Bison in a custom combo; always buffer anti-alpha counter goryukens, and Dan has to take all beneficial trades which works well with the round 2 comeback mechanic. At least it is possible to win with Dan. Time the charges, do not challenge the fireballs when he has charge, Dan will lose all the time in that situation. Dan's punch alpha counter will not work against Bison, but his kick one has a better chance.

I do. Street Fighter Alpha 2 feels more like Super Turbo to me which I really loved playing. The moves/attacks flow better, as I feel the sudden pauses to flip out of a falling frame is kind of janky in Alpha 3. Not saying Alpha 3 is bad, I really do like the announcer, large character roster,, and expanded Dramatic Battle mode but the way combos feel are not as satisfying to land. I also prefer Alpha 2 over Alpha 2 Gold because as a mid-tier character main in Alpha 2, it was unfair in Alpha 2 Gold where Capcom buffed the top tier and nerfed everyone else.

I remember when Street Fighter Alpha 2 was in its field testing arcades around here. I think I gravitated to Sakura first after being a Guile main in SF2, because it was so easy to link her light attacks into any special/super move. However, I can never main Sakura for her lack of options and unsuitable to my play style. I do like using Sakura as my gauging character to see how good a player is, sadly in this video, both of us refused to use our mains because we believed they are counter picks to each other: https://youtu.be/tiBrDC7XUQ0

As a character I think she's cute, like a lot of the SF female characters. It was surprising to me back then to learn by cannon she was trained by Dan opposed to what I thought was her mimicking the Ryu she idolized.

The local Capcom owned arcade was so generous to help out in presenting their cabinets at a local show, and we made the mistake of giving out the rarer items for 3rd place than 2nd place items provided by Capcom for the Alpha 2 tournament they also took the opportunity to surprise us with a bonus new cabinet of Puzzle Fighter, cannot thank the locally owned Capcom arcade enough for that wonderful support.

I would like a playable Lt. Lynn Kurosawa from Aliens Vs. Predator. She's in Ken's background in Alpha 2 (or someone's cosplaying as her for Ken's birthday party on the yacht) but playable would be better as she has some great combos and air throws in her base game.

I always thought Juri Han would pixel art into classic Street Fighter games very well. I think it is because her poofy pants which I like reminds me a bit of Hotaru Futaba of Garou, and Juri's walking away animation is almost like B.Jenet's of the same game.

Maki and Lucia Morgan are great choices too. Although, Maki already showed up in Zero 3 Double Upper (and originally Capcom Vs. SNK 2) I could never get proficient with her, unlike Guy. Maki has those run away moves (and air 360s) which are weird to me. I was amused that Maki is the only female character that gets stunned like an average man.

Final Fight Revenge is one of my biggest regrets. I was a big Saturn fan, as all the games were dirt cheap because no one wanted them yet I still passed on Final Fight Revenge multiple times at its low price ($25-$30USD in its day). One day I saw a video of two potentially high guys playing the game laughing at Edi.E's "Ba-Bang" and thought I should give the game a try only to find the price ballooned into the triple digits in US dollars.

Sorry, I just got home from work and was excited to contribute something.

To make up for that, a new picture.
