For some reason time limits were everywhere in early 90s C64 games. The games were already difficult and poorly-designed to begin with.

Here's another game that does it. I actually think the C64's earlier platformers were better than their later ones. I'd rather play Giana Sisters or Monty on the Run than Creatures.

Because the developers were all tiny British studios, none of whom had any idea how to develop a good game. They thought having good art was enough.
