Post licensed games that are interesting in one way or another, either because the gameplay is fun on its own, or because it does something actually interesting with the source material.
Nadia The Secret of Blue Water got a Famicom game, that I'm currently playing and enjoying a lot, it's like an Advance Wars type of strategy game. Funny that eventually, Nadia would appear in another similar game (Super Robot Wars X, not retro) decades later.
I also played another Nadia game before, for Mega Drive. This one wasn't as fun gameplay-wise (it's basically a very restrictive adventure game, no battles or combat, and lots of repetitive backtracking, also no replay value), however, it is a pretty interesting adaptation of the series events, with charming 16bit graphics, and even changes some plot elements, some new scenes are really good and it has a completely different ending than the TV series.
I know there's some other Nadia games, I think for PC-98 and PS2, but haven't tried those yet, I think those are more traditional VN style games. Maybe also another one for PCE CD? Not sure.

I'm indulging myself with Fushigi no Umi no Nadia on Famicom and I can't believe how much I am enjoying it bros.
Basically a Nadia advanced wars/super robot wars kinda strategy game. To think Nadia would appear in Super Robot Wars X, 30 years later.

I've played the Famicom game (strategy) and Mega Drive (adventure).
I was actually quite surprised by both of them, the FC game is actually challenging and the MD game is ultra comfy.
What other games are there based on the franchise? Have you played any?
Also, don't forget to try in mind.

The megadrive one is an adventure game (plays like an RPG, except it doesn't have battles, it's more similar to point and click games in that regard).

There's another one for the Famicom which is a strategy turn based game.

And there's a couple more for japanese PCs and I think PC Engine too (probably they're all mostly VNs/interactive)
