Nah nigga. Unless there's been some shake up with the emulators since last I've used them, they all support the Classic Controller, Classic Controller Pro, and for systems with few buttons the Wiimote itself.

How's this controller for emulating retro games on the Wii? Does it feel weird to have it connected to the Wiimote all the time? Does it have much input lag because the Wiimote is wireless?

Pic related or the Wii U one? This one is wired only, it plugs into a Wii remote. There's a USB adapter by Mayflash. I haven't used one, but I have the Gamecube one and works well.

As for the Wii U one, I'm pretty sure it's wireless only. It connects with Bluetooth, so (unless you already have it) you need a Bluetooth dongle. They're ~$20.
