Serious question, not trolling or baiting: Why do Sony fans gang up on the Nintendo 64 so much?

I can admit that I grew up as a nintendie and sided with them for gens 5 and 6, but when I grew up and got older I looked back on older competitor's consoles like PS1 and PS2 I ended up retroactively enjoying them a lot and found many great new games to play I've never played before. It broadened my tastes and made me appreciate just how good we had it back then that we could have 4 ongoing big players offering so much good content with none of the pozzed caveats of today's gaming landscape. So why can't they do the same? I don't treat it like a war anymore. I still prefer N64, but I'm not gonna say one won over the other or whatever epeen measuring contest you wanna use. In my mind, everyone were winners because GEN 6 as a whole was a win. The libraries of each console excel at different things. So again I need to ask, why the continued animosity?
