>Am I the only one who thinks that Mario games are totally overrated?

I mean, except for nostalgic feelings which I appreciate and fully understand, off course, browsing /vr/. These games are not the worst at all, yet they weren't really the greatest on any platform of any generation. Let alone for the SNES, there come 50 games into my mind which are better than Mario. Not even the best Jump'n'Run.

As a RPG-fan, I'd say Super Mario RPG was total nonsense: puzzles were ridiculous, stupifying mini games and no charm but 'its mario and friends...yay'. How does that plainest of all RPGs keeps coming up in all 'good RPG' discussions. Are people just retarded or don't they know how a good RPG looks like?

I just want to know, what is so great about Mario?

>characters seem to be designed awkwardly in both appearance and characteristics
>logic errors (a princess named after frog shit is befriended or even in love with a fucking plumber).
>no need for brains at all to solve levels/puzzles
>run...jump...bump...hurrdurr...jump....jump...run lol XDXDXD merio is keeeewl:D
>if it hadn't been for the popularity (advertising and brainwash) of that brand 'mario' nobody would have ever played any game of the series on non-nostalgic platforms (for me from 16 bit afterwards)
