Indeed. I get the complaints over the difficulty, I recommend the Genesis version for that reaoson as level 2 has both better visibility, due to a high resolution with more pixels horizontally, and the section where you can jump up the hippos, while in the SNES you have to swing on their tails with a mechanic that barely works and needed a ton more polish. After level 2 I feel things open up.

I struggled when coming back to this one, in my attempt to finally beat it, and yes, there's a ton of BS that I could've done without, but now it's a favorite of mine overall, it's fun, I recommend it.

The Lion King: Simba's Mighty Adventure.

We've got a pretty mediocre 3D platformer for PS1 and, while the GBC version isn't really good or anything like that, it attempts to capture the style of the 1994 adaptation by Virgin that was such a hit for Genesis and SNES, and it succeeds at that, in many ways being better since one of the main flaws from that version, the swinging and collisions, are not really an issue here at all.

One more thing I like is having levels based on the 2nd film, so it gives you a more complete, or at least more diverse, take on 2D Lion King than the 90's title, while also being better than PS1's.

It's simple, Lion King had a huge appeal, and the 16-Bit consoles were huge when this came out, a lot of hype around the film meant that many kids back then rented and/or bought it, and that spike in difficulty that they gave the 2nd level to avoid it being beat on a rental could be truly brutal as a kid... a lot of titles were harder, but they weren't as played as this one was, so it left an impression.

I struggled to finally finish this a few years back, but pulled through and nowadays I like how hard it is, it's the kind of hard that tests you, but that feels engaging when you know what to do too.
