I'm picking up DQ2 after yet another pause, got the Moon and Star crests so far. Will I need the Sword of Erdrick at any point? I just threw it away after getting a better one, and then I realized that maybe it was a bad idea.

Are there any significant differences in Dragon Warrior II as opposed to to the original that I should know about?
The first one had altered dialogue and quite a few deleted NPCs, I'm wondering if they kept it up here too, and I don't trust other sites telling me it's "basically the same".

Actually, Hurt becomes Firebal in Dragon Warrior 2 and Hurtmore becomes Firebane in Dragon Warrior 3. The newest games rename them Sizz and Sizzle.

That accent thing in 4 is one of the reasons why I like the NES version, that and even with the minor censorship the NES version is a more faithful translation.

Also, please ignore the moron saying that Dragon Quest 1, 2, and 3 aren't connected, because they are directly related to one another and he either hasn't played them or ragequit before he played very much of them. Dragon Quest 4, 5, and 6, while not directly connected (there are some things added to the DS versions to try and connect them directly that wasn't in the original releases), have a similar uniting theme between them all. Games after 6 have all gone off in their own directions.
