japan uses 100v AC
united states uses 120v AV
manufacturer tolerances will allow a swing that small quite easily
the items were designed to be used by children
even after 30+years the capacitors in all my PSU work fine


>TLDR; it wont hurt anything as long as you use the correct PSU, don't starve the machine for current
the only thing it will do is add heat over time
if you do it for several hours a day for days on end
your power supply will fail
if you are that into japan consoles\devices consider a japan>usa stepdown converter for $50 or so on ebay

SMS system slaps
i liked enough to get two of them
i have the sega mark iii & usa master system model 1

i recommend getting a cheap everdrive
SMS supports sg-1000 titles as well
there are some killer deepcuts for the system

brazil and other territories got titles the rest of the world didnt get long after the system went past its life cycle

tldr;
if you like the gamegear even a LITTLE
the sms system is godtier & has plenty to offer

the sonic titles because they remind me of my childhood gamegear

but the master system replicates that era feeling +has tons of games i havent played yet
