What are possible causes of sound not working on an original gameboy? I've opened it up, but all the wires seem to be in place from behind (didn't bother to remove the other screws to check the other side of the motherboard).

Not sure if I'll need to buy a new speaker altogether, or if it's another problem.

I have an old DMG GameBoy, the thing has broken sound, dead pixels, etc. But I want to fix it up, clean it, paint it, and mod it to make it as good as possible.

My question is: How can I keep the text under the screen (That says "Nintendo GameBoy tm") and the text under the buttons? It would be difficult, even with a very fine brush to paint around this, and I've heard using decals may be a good option, but I'm not really sure how I could go about using them. So, I'd like to know, how can I print off decals of the text I need, and is there anything I can use the make it look natural, and not like it's just stuck on? Like, is there any type of finish that needs to go over it?

Thanks in advance, this will be a massive help to me :D

(also, not as important as I'm sure I'll find some myself later, but what would be a good type of paint to use for the original DMG? I'm not sure whether to use spray on or brush, or if there's any special paint type to use. I'm painting it white if it helps).
