Ever notice how certain Nintendo "classics" are impossible to criticize because their fans think they can't be assessed by normal standards. Like Metroid Prime is a crap first person shooter with mediocre combat compared to Halo, HL2 and its other contemporaries. But then it's fans will say "actually it's the first ever first person adventure, the combat doesn't matter so it's a 10/10". Same with Zelda, you go on about its flaws like the combat and you get "um Zelda is about adventuring and exploring not the combat", then you say it's not great at that compared to games like Elder Scrolls and then they say "um it's actually about the puzzles". Like these Nintendo games exist in some magical separate genre from everything and you can't apply any standard to them that we do to other games.

Am I the only one who actually likes the standard purple GameCube? I think it looks cool and unique.

what are some good beginner-friendly GameCube games that I can play with my 8 year old niece? she loves vidya but she's only ever played smartphone/tablet apps, she doesn't have much experience with traditional controllers. she says she wants to play Mario but the only Nintendo home console I have is a softmodded Wii that has Melee and Wind Waker

I like the cube, and I'm going through another autistic phase where I want more gamecube games even though prices are fucked in 2023. I can obviously just emulate, but owning the games is nice, too.
