I just got a copy of Prince of Persia for Game Gear today, and discovered an incredible "hidden feature" that some Game Gear games apparently have. When I plugged it into my McWill Game Gear, I discovered it actually runs at a higher resolution than a regular Game Gear gGame. I'm guessing this is due to laziness on the part of the publisher-- it's in all likeliness literally just the Sega Master System game in a Game Gear cartridge shell, which means that the GG is running in Master System mode when the game boots up. The end result though is that there is tons of detail on the McWill screen that was simply impossible to see on the stock screen, because normally for Master System games the GG has to essentially scale them over a composite signal (I know that's not technically what's happening, but the end result is the same).

I wonder, what other Game Gear games utilize this "high res mode?" Obviously plugging in a Master Gear converter or loading up an Everdrive with SMS roms would be the easiest way to see more games looking like this, but I'm curious about actual game gear games. I was not expecting to see a regular Game Gear game running at a higher native resolution when playing on a modded screen.

Pic related is one of my unmodified GGs on the top and the McWill GG on the bottom.
