I totally feel ya. I read all of it and you reminded me of certain things that I thought where long forgotten.

I skipped one and half generations of gaming consoles because my family was having problems with money at that time.

I spent most of my middle school/high school days playing with an old playstation console with a disc that had tons of NES roms saved in it.

>I remember those lazy afternoons playing Kirby's Adventure.
>Trying to figure out what the fuck to do in all those fun japanese games.
>Playing all those crazy mods of famous games (Super Mario Bros 2 - Christmas edition, SMB with Zelda characters, SMB - everysinglelevelhasunderwatermechanics edition, etc).
>Playing co-op games like Contra, Chip 'n Dale and TMNT with friends and having a blast.

I remember playing that very same disc all day long after we moved out of my hometown, I had no friends and nothing better to do.

Over time, my family became more stable and we could afford a new console along with some games, and since then everything changed.

Damn... that disc was so precious to me, but I had totally forgotten about it until now.
