Saturn looked fine... not as good as the Genesis though, that one was SEGA's best in looks really.

I prefer a model 2 Genesis with nothing on it.

Sleek.

>What game or console defined or influenced the type of games that you like?
SEGA Genesis.
It was mostly arcade ports, and even those that weren't direct arcade ports, but were developed and/or published by SEGA, has an arcade design direction in them... I fell in love with these 15min to 45min campaigns, that didn't actually take you so little time to finish, since you'd get sent back after losing, which you'd lose quite a lot by the way, and you'd make a bit of progress each and every time... until eventually you beat it, by sheer persistance, and then... that video game that had kicked you while you were on the ground for so long, that took you days, or even weeks, to really finish... now that you're good at it, that you've mastered it, because you can't beat it unless you truly master it, you can finish it in less than an hour, they're perfect for picking up and playing in those brief windows of time you might have on a busy day, and when I have more time I'll play a new title instead, since I know that it could take me days of playing just to get the hang of things. It's my most played console, and for good reason.

I don't think any console ever released looks as elegant as the 2nd model Genesis for some reason, something about it is just downright perfect.

I somewhat agree. to me it really is the Mega Drive/Genesis, but the 2nd model. I don't know what it is about it, but it's just perfect to me.

Sega Genesis.
I don't recall what was the 1st title I played on it, but I believe it was the original Sonic The Hedgehog, I also owned Arch Rivals, Ariel The Little Mermaid, QuackShot, Road Rash 2 and Streets of Rage 2.

A Saturn is always a good pick, in my eyes it's the most beautiful console of the 5th generation, much better than the N64 and PS1, although they're good in their own ways.

Sega in the 90's was pure kino, it's one of the things that makes me miss them, the Model II Sega Genesis is simply phenomenal to me in looks.

True, if it was released when it was supposed to, it would've performed better for sure, of course that it wasn't better than the NES hardware and software wise, but it would've had a 2 years head start, that could've helped a lot.

I got a Sega Genesis model 2 VA1 that turns on but I get nothing when I turn it on.

I've cleaned the games, cleaned the slot, looked for any cracked solder joints and I've tested the reset switch to see if it's stuck.
I've also tried different cords and hook ups and nothing helped.

The board is in perfect condition yet I still get nothing when I turn it on. What could it be?

I am thinking it might be a capacitor that has gone bad or the voltage regulator. Is it possible to get the LED power light but have a busted cap later along the line that prevents it from working?
